Welcome & Introduction

Welcome

Welcome to ForageGo.

At ForageGo, we believe that discovering nature should be inspiring, safe and respectful—not only towards nature, but also towards the people who use our service. Protecting your privacy is therefore one of our core principles.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have when using the ForageGo mobile application, website and related services.

We have written this policy in clear and understandable language because we believe you should not need legal expertise to understand how your information is handled.

By creating an account or using ForageGo, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand how your information is processed in connection with the services we provide.

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • The ForageGo mobile application
  • The official ForageGo website
  • Any related services provided by ForageGo

As ForageGo evolves, we may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features, legal requirements or improvements to our services. Whenever significant changes are made, the updated version will be made available within the app and on the official website.

Our commitment is simple: we will only collect the information we need to provide and improve ForageGo, we will never sell your personal information, and we will always strive to be transparent about how your data is used.

Chapter 2

Who We Are

This chapter explains who is responsible for handling your personal information when you use ForageGo and how you can contact us regarding privacy-related questions.

Data Controller

The data controller responsible for the processing of your personal information is:

ForageGo
Owner: Jesper Holmlund (Private Individual)
Country: Denmark
Email: hello@foragego.com

Our Responsibility

As the data controller, ForageGo is responsible for ensuring that your personal information is processed fairly, lawfully and transparently in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

Contacting Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, your personal information, or how ForageGo processes your data, you can contact us at:

hello@foragego.com

We aim to respond to privacy-related enquiries as quickly as reasonably possible.

Future Business Changes

ForageGo is currently operated by its owner as a private individual in Denmark. If ownership or the legal structure of ForageGo changes in the future—for example, if the service is transferred to a registered company—this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect the new legal entity and contact details. Such changes will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy.

Chapter 3

Information We Collect

To provide the ForageGo experience, we collect only the information that is necessary to operate, secure and improve the service. The information we collect depends on how you use the app.

Account Information

When you sign in using Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, we receive basic account information from your chosen provider, such as your email address and a unique authentication identifier. We do not collect or store your password.

Profile Information

We store your community username and any profile information you choose to provide. Your username is the name displayed to other users within the ForageGo community.

Findings and Community Contributions

When you create a finding, we store the information you provide, including photographs, descriptions, selected category, land ownership (public or private), location and other information necessary to display the finding.

Activity Information

We store actions related to your use of the community, including confirmations you give or receive, reports you submit and other interactions required for the service.

Technical Information

To improve reliability and security, we may collect technical information such as device model, operating system, app version, preferred language, crash reports and diagnostic information.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your password, payment information or contacts from your device. We also do not access your photos, camera or location unless you have granted the required permissions.

Our Principle

We only collect information that is necessary to provide, secure and improve ForageGo. We never collect information simply because it may be useful in the future.

Chapter 4

Location Data

Location is one of the core features of ForageGo. It allows users to discover edible nature nearby and accurately share findings with the community. We only access your location with your permission.

Why We Use Your Location

We use location information to:

  • Place new findings on the map at your current device location.
  • Show nearby findings.
  • Verify that you are physically present when confirming a finding.
  • Improve the overall map experience.

When Location Is Collected

Your location is collected only when it is needed to provide location-based features. It is not continuously tracked in the background simply because the app is installed.

Location Permissions

You choose whether to grant location access. If permission is denied, some features—such as creating findings, confirming findings or viewing your current position—may be unavailable or limited.

Confirmation Verification

When you confirm an existing finding, ForageGo reads your precise device location at that moment and compares it with the location of the finding. The confirmation is only accepted if you are within the currently configured verification radius of 10 meters and your device reports a sufficiently accurate position.

For each accepted confirmation we store the coordinates used for the check, the accuracy reported by your device and the calculated distance to the finding. This verification data is stored together with the confirmation, is not visible to other users in the app, and is accessible only to ForageGo administrators for handling abuse and integrity issues. It is kept for as long as the confirmation exists and is deleted when the confirmation or your account is deleted.

Accuracy

When you create a finding, ForageGo stores the location associated with that finding so it can be displayed to the community. To maintain the integrity of the map, users cannot later edit the GPS coordinates of a published finding.

Your Privacy

We do not sell your location data or use it for advertising purposes. Location information is used solely to operate and improve the services provided by ForageGo.

Our Principle

Your location belongs to you. ForageGo only uses it when it is necessary to provide the features you choose to use.

Chapter 5

Photos & Community Content

ForageGo is built around community contributions. Every finding shared by our users helps build a richer and more useful map for everyone. This chapter explains how photos and community content are handled.

Ownership of Your Content

You retain ownership of the photographs, descriptions and other content that you upload to ForageGo. Uploading content does not transfer ownership to ForageGo.

Licence to Display Content

By uploading a finding, you grant ForageGo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute your content within the ForageGo service. This licence exists solely so we can operate and improve the service and present your findings to other users.

Community Map

Findings are intended to become part of the shared ForageGo community map. Other users may view your findings, including the associated photograph, category, description and location, subject to the visibility rules of the app.

Deleting Your Account

Deleting your ForageGo account does not automatically remove findings, photographs or other community contributions you have previously shared. These contributions may remain available to preserve the quality and value of the community map. Your username will no longer be shown on these findings; where an author is still displayed, it will appear as "Deleted user".

Content Moderation

ForageGo reserves the right to edit, hide or remove content that violates our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, including inaccurate, misleading, inappropriate or unlawful content.

Our Principle

Your contributions help build a better community for everyone. We respect your ownership while ensuring that valuable discoveries remain available to benefit the wider ForageGo community.

Chapter 6

How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used solely to provide, maintain and improve the ForageGo experience. We only process personal information when we have a legitimate reason to do so.

Operating the Service

We use your information to create and manage your account, display your profile, publish your findings, allow confirmations, operate the map and provide the core functionality of ForageGo.

Improving ForageGo

We analyse anonymous and aggregated usage information to improve performance, stability, usability and future features. This helps us understand how the app is used without identifying individual users whenever possible.

Safety and Community Protection

We use certain information to detect spam, fraudulent behaviour, misuse of the platform and violations of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. Administrators may review reports and take appropriate moderation actions when necessary.

Customer Support

If you contact us, we use the information you provide to answer your questions, investigate issues and provide technical support.

Legal Obligations

In certain situations, we may process or retain information where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising.
We do not build advertising profiles about you.
We do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Our Principle

Every piece of information we collect must have a clear purpose. If we do not need it to operate, protect or improve ForageGo, we do not want to collect it.

Chapter 7

Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

ForageGo only shares personal information when it is necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations or protect the security of our users and platform. We never sell your personal information.

Trusted Service Providers

To operate ForageGo, we rely on carefully selected third-party service providers. These providers process information only on our behalf and only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Authentication Providers

When you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, authentication is handled by the provider you selected. ForageGo receives only the information required to create and maintain your account.

Cloud Infrastructure

ForageGo uses Supabase to securely store application data, user profiles and community content. Supabase acts as a data processor and processes information only under our instructions.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by applicable law, court order or other valid legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of ForageGo, our users or others.

Business Changes

If ForageGo is sold, merged or transferred to another legal entity in the future, relevant information may be transferred as part of that transaction. If this happens, users will be informed where required by law.

What We Never Do

  • We never sell your personal information.
  • We never sell your location history.
  • We never sell your uploaded findings or photographs.
  • We never allow third parties to use your information for their own marketing purposes.

Our Principle

Any sharing of personal information must have a clear and legitimate purpose. If sharing your information is not necessary to operate or protect ForageGo, we do not share it.

Chapter 8

Data Security

Protecting your information is an important part of building trust within the ForageGo community. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information entrusted to us.

Security Measures

We use modern security practices to help protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration and disclosure. This includes secure authentication, encrypted connections and access controls where appropriate.

Account Security

Authentication is handled through Apple Sign In and Google Sign In. ForageGo does not store or have access to your account password.

Access to Information

Access to personal information is limited to authorised administrators and service providers who require it to operate, maintain or support the ForageGo service.

No System Is Perfect

Although we work continuously to protect your information, no online service can guarantee absolute security. For this reason, we encourage users to protect their own devices and account credentials.

Security Improvements

As ForageGo grows, we will continue to improve our security measures and update our practices to reflect new technologies, threats and legal requirements.

Our Commitment

Security is an ongoing responsibility—not a one-time feature. We are committed to continuously improving how we protect both our users and the ForageGo platform.

Chapter 9

Your Rights Under GDPR

Your Rights

If you live in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction with similar privacy legislation, you may have certain legal rights regarding your personal information.

Right of Access

You may request a copy of the personal information that ForageGo holds about you.

Right to Rectification

If your information is inaccurate or incomplete, you may request that it be corrected.

Right to Erasure

You may request deletion of your personal information where applicable. Please note that deleting your account does not automatically remove community findings and photographs, as explained elsewhere in this Privacy Policy.

Right to Restrict Processing

In certain situations, you may request that we temporarily restrict how your personal information is processed.

Right to Object

You may object to certain types of processing where permitted by applicable law.

Right to Data Portability

Where legally applicable, you may request a copy of your personal information in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.

Right to Withdraw Consent

Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.

How to Exercise Your Rights

If you wish to exercise any of your privacy rights, please contact us at:

hello@foragego.com

We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling your request in order to protect your personal information.

Our Commitment

We believe privacy rights should be respected and easy to exercise. We will always do our best to respond to legitimate privacy requests promptly and transparently.

Chapter 10

Account Deletion & Data Retention

We believe you should always remain in control of your account and personal information. This chapter explains what happens when you choose to delete your ForageGo account and how long certain information may be retained.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your ForageGo account directly from within the ForageGo app. Once confirmed, your account deletion request will be processed and your personal account information will be deleted or anonymised in accordance with applicable laws.

What Will Be Deleted

When your account is deleted, information that directly identifies you—such as your authentication details, email address and profile information—will be removed or anonymised where appropriate.

What Will Remain

Deleting your account does not automatically remove findings, photographs, descriptions or other community contributions you have shared. These contributions remain part of the shared ForageGo map to preserve the value of the community for other users. Your username will no longer be shown on these findings; where an author is still displayed, it will appear as "Deleted user".

Administrative Records

In limited situations, certain information may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary to investigate abuse, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations or protect the security of the platform.

Retention Periods

We retain personal information only for as long as it is necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations or protect the integrity of the ForageGo platform. Information that is no longer required will be securely deleted or anonymised.

Our Commitment

Deleting your account should remove your personal identity from ForageGo, while preserving valuable community knowledge that benefits everyone.

Chapter 11

Children's Privacy

ForageGo is designed for people who enjoy exploring nature responsibly. Protecting children's privacy is especially important to us.

Minimum Age

ForageGo is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

Parental Responsibility

If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to ForageGo without your consent, please contact us. We will investigate the matter and take appropriate action.

Removal of Information

If we become aware that we have unintentionally collected personal information from a child under the applicable minimum age, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information as quickly as possible, unless we are legally required to retain it.

Teenage Users

Where permitted by applicable law, teenagers above the minimum required age should use ForageGo with the knowledge and guidance of a parent or guardian, particularly when sharing discoveries in public places.

Our Commitment

We want ForageGo to inspire future generations to enjoy nature responsibly while respecting the privacy and safety of younger users.
